Sponsored Video: Everyone Has A Price

Similar to the Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase, I've always believed that everyone has a price. It doesn't always have to be a dollar amount. It can also come in the form of an emotional attachment, like your favourite toy, your smelly baby pillow, or someone/something that you love.

For the longest time, I've always been challenging other humans at the dinner table to try to find their tipping point. When ever there is some left over spicy/salty/sour/tasteless food or condiments left on the center of the table, you can bet your last dollar I will ask this question:

"$50 to finish this bowl of vinegar/sauce/dried chilli."

The price, of course, varies depends on the difficulty of the dish.

$20 to finish this bowl of lime juice? Anyone? No?
$50 if it has been used at least once round the table.

It's always interesting to listen to humans when they say that no amount of money in the world would make them do a thing.Well, maybe it's true that they would not be wavered by money, but as my favourite villian of all time would say: "People are only as good as the world allows them to be."

Don't believe me? I bet I could convince you to drink this same bowl of lime water for just $10.

Now, under normal circumstances, I believe that not many people would agree to drink this bowl of lime water for just $10. That's just because they do not see value in that measly $10.

But if I were to change the bet to $100, I believe some of you may start considering it. What if I were to up the ante to $1000? At this price, I would personally gulp down the entire bowl without a second thought. That's because you see the worthiness in the transaction. Basically, you feel that you're getting a good deal out of it.

Now, let's say I set up a challenge booth in the middle of Orchard Road, and I place 3 bowls of liquids in front of you:

$2 to drink a bowl of this

$5 to drink a bowl of this

and $10 to drink a bowl of this

I'm quite certain there will be a lot more participants willing to relieve me of my $10 bills.
Your brain has been officially hacked. I've give you a moment for that to sink in.

Bets can come in all shapes and sizes. The most common of course is in the form of monetary rewards. But what happens when you already have more money than you can spend? Do bets still take place? You bet they do. Watch how these gentlemen raise the stakes by putting an entire boat on the line... For a dance, no less. Good music, good entertainment and good beverages have always gone hand in hand with one another.

Now that's what I call a classy wager. And do you know what else is classy? Check out that exquisite bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label that they are enjoying. Only the rarest whiskies are used in the blending of a Johnny Walker Blue Label, with only 1 in 10,000 casks containing whisky of sufficient character to deliver that remarkably smooth signature taste.

That's why each one hand picked by the Johnny Walker Master Blender himself.

Check out Johnny Walker's Website to learn more about the individually numbered bottles of Johnny Walker Blue Label.

I don't have a boat, but would anybody want to wager me something for my collection of shoes?

N.E.mation! 9 is Back Again!

It that time of the year again! Time for our young budding students to impress Singapore and the rest of the world with their animation skills.

N.E.mation! 9 [National Education (ani)mation?] is back for it's 9th year running, and this year promises to be another year of impressive and exciting competition between students, where the champions will win themselves a trip to a renowned animation studio in the USA! Check out the fun stuff that last year's winners got to do while they were there!

For those of you who have not heard of N.E.mation!, [which cave have you been hiding in for the past 9 years?], N.E.mation! is a digital animation competition organised by Nexus for youths to express their thoughts on Total Defence.

I had the privilege of being one of the official blogger ambassadors for last year's N.E.mation! 8, and it was a blast! I'm telling you these kids are soooooo talented.

Here's a shout-out to my awesome teams from N.E.mation! 8...

The girls from team Wayne Stark Co

and the guys from team Hashtag

With the guidance and training from the organisers and partners, these students with no prior experience in animation have been able to produce broadcast quality clips that were screened on free-to-air television! In fact, some of these clips were even selected for international animation festivals and even won several awards!

Check out last year's winning clip:

Each year, the animations are centered around a specific theme, and this year's theme is "Because We Believe".

So students from secondary schools, Junior Colleges and Centralised Institutions, get those creative juices flowing and head on down to the N.E.mation! 9 website to register with your team of 3 to 4 members, and you might just be the next team to visit USA! [Pssstt, I also heard that the consolation prizes were really good too]

But you gotta hurry, because registration closes on the 15 August 2014!! Good luck to all participating students and may the odds ever be in your favour!
